Never Drink With The Leylines

from Rock The Boat Live by Brian Stone

/

about

This is another song that owes its birth to Farmer Phil's festival. The Leylines already had a bit of a reputation for partying and, although he hotly denies it, many could testify to nights drinking with Addie Burns - yes Ash, I am looking at you here! On this occasion the drinking went on well into Monday morning causing some very late departures and some very sorry looking souls.

So you may not know the people mentioned in this song, but you will know people like them. These are the "just one more drink", "let's play this drinking game" characters. Walk away. You have been warned ;)

The song is littered with references to Leylines songs and Krak Daniels is a game involving Kraken and Jack Daniels invented by none other than Steve Mitchell - lead singer of The Leylines.

lyrics

It's 1am the last band's played
A beautiful day comes to an end
The firepit or the tea tent, that's the place to be

It's 3 o clock in the morning
And the boozy coffee's warming
Sat with cider in a field - drunk n disorderly

But I have some sage advice for you
Take it now from one who knew
If you want to see this through

Never drink with the Leylines
Never drink with Addie Burns
Your liver it won't thank you
When will you ever learn

It's 5am we're going strong
Krak Daniels s'out it won't be long
We're doing shots but that's a plot - Your life lies in your hands

7am now that's insane
You've only got yourself to blame
Did you heed the warnings - No you did it anyway!

Recall those word we told you mate
You've blown it now, it's too late
Look at you. You're a bloody state

Never drink in the purple people eater
Never drink with Dean & Co
You'll regret it in the morning
I've heard the tales of woe
Never drink with the Leylines
Never drink with Addie Burns
Your liver it won't thank you
When will you ever learn

Never take them on. Try to save your skin
Because the last man standing is a game you'll never win
Run for cover. Run, run, run. Next time you're on the lash
Save yourself, save your soul, save your sorry ass
Woa ho!
